Showrunner Lauren S. Hissrich has confirmed that series villains Cahir and Fringilla will receive more backstory in Season 2, writing on Twitter: “I can’t wait to dig deeper into Cahir and Fringilla in [The Witcher season 2], who they are, why Nilfgaard is important, and where they’ll go from here.” Hissrich said on Twitter. “It’s one of my favourite parts of the new season.” A brief refresher: Cahir, if you don’t remember from your 2019 Netflix binge, is a knight of the Nilfgaardian Empire who attempts to track down Ciri before Yennefer sets the battlefield alight during the Battle of Sodden. Fringilla, on the other hand, is a sorceress at Cahir’s ear. The Witcher season 2 is slated to arrive sometime in 2021; however, production has currently been shut down due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Season 2’s eight episode arc was initially scheduled to begin production early next year.
