This year saw God of War Ragnarok, Elden Ring, A Plague Tale: Requiem, Horizon Forbidden West, Xenoblade Chronicles 3, and Stray up for the coveted Game of the Year award. The winner was FromSoftware’s Elden Ring. God of War walked off with the most awards with eight, including Best Action Adventure Game. Starting us off on the wrong foot this month is Disintegration. The gist of this game is floaty FPS/strategic combat with robots that humans have elected to have their brains deposited in to make them invulnerable to, well, everything. The combat is unique and it feels pretty good but my fun is hindered by far too many “what on earth were they thinking?...

While initial rumours suggested the massive leak was initiated by a disgruntled employee in protest of poor labour conditions, Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier now claims to have learned what happened after speaking to a number of employees at the studio. Taking to Twitter, Schreier reports that major story elements of the game were leaked by hackers who discovered a security vulnerability to access Naughty Dog’s servers. “OK: After talking to two people with direct knowledge of how TLOU2 leaked as well as some Naughty Dog employees, I have a good idea of what happened,” Schreier wrote in a tweet today....

Showrunner Lauren S. Hissrich has confirmed that series villains Cahir and Fringilla will receive more backstory in Season 2, writing on Twitter: “I can’t wait to dig deeper into Cahir and Fringilla in [The Witcher season 2], who they are, why Nilfgaard is important, and where they’ll go from here.” Hissrich said on Twitter. “It’s one of my favourite parts of the new season.” A brief refresher: Cahir, if you don’t remember from your 2019 Netflix binge, is a knight of the Nilfgaardian Empire who attempts to track down Ciri before Yennefer sets the battlefield alight during the Battle of Sodden....

Grassetti has been sharing some of his Star Fox redesigns over Instagram this month, re-imagining characters from the classic Nintendo arcade game as highly detailed, realistic humanoid animals. And it has piqued the interest of the Rogue One: A Star Wars Story writer. Retweeting one of Grassetti’s pictures, Whitta - a long-time gamer and former game journalist - declared over Twitter: “I want to write this animated movie”: His tweet is written with the wryness of a man who knows how to get a good Twitter ratio going, of course....

Mount and Blade 2: Bannerlord has been a success story since the moment it launched on Monday in Early Access. The game quickly became Steam’s biggest launch of 2020, beating the likes of Doom Eternal, and Wolcen: Lords of Mayhem At launch, Bannerlord found a spot in Steam’s top five list of most active games. Unlike most game launches, the days following release didn’t bring a drop in activity, rather a big boost....

The final character introduction trailer for Trials of Mana has been released. It introduces players to Hawkeye and Riesz. Trials of Mana tells the story of six heroes as they battle against the forces of evil that threaten a world where Mana has been weakened. You will be selecting a party of three from these characters and adventure forth to protect Mana. Originally released in Japan as Seiken Densetsu 3 in 1995, the game is a high-definition remake of the third entry in the series....
