Star Wars Episode 1: Racer will be released for PS4 and Switch with modernized controls for your podracer on May 14. All of the FMV sequences in the game will feature increased resolutions, according to Aspyr on the PS Blog. On PS4, the team also re-mapped all of the controls “to feel right for DualShock 4.” On Switch, the development team wanted to make sure the game felt comfortable in all configurations, including playing with each individual Joy-Con....

Barone took to twitter to share an unseen-before screenshot of his upcoming project, Haunted Chocolatier, and has amassed plenty of likes and love in under 24 hours. While still trying to find a way to port Stardew Valley’s huge 1.5 update to mobile, which should release by the end of the year, Eric Barone has been chipping away at the development of their next project, Haunted Chocolatier. Alongside the brand-new screenshot, which shows the player character in what looks like a basement, Barone kindly answered a couple of questions from fans in the Tweet’s replies....

As spotted by Eurogamer, Steam once again set another record of concurrent users, hitting its latest peak of 33,078,963 players all logged in at once, according to SteamDB stats yesterday (January 8). Keep in mind, it was only in October when Steam hit the 30 million mark for concurrent users, so that’s quite the jump in just a few short months. That’s not the only record Steam set though, as SteamDB also reported that there were 10,284,568 active users, meaning there were a whole bunch of people playing games at the same time....

The PC gaming platform experienced a peak of 18,801,944 players at around 6:20am PST, according to SteamDB, breaking its previously record of 18,537,490 set on January 14, 2018. Strangely though, of all those millions of Steam users online today there were actually fewer players in-game than there were last January. Today’s peak saw 5,956,978 players in-game, compared to statistics from January 2018 showing more than seven million users in-game. “Steam has broken its record for most concurrently online users that was held for two years....

Alex’s hands-on session with the Tokyo Game Show build focused on four newly revealed characters: the powerful but unwieldy Guile, for starters. Juri, whose SF6 incarnation is a refinement on her SF5 version but with some of her fan-favourite moveset brought in from SF4. Kimberly, an entirely new character for SF6 but with strong links to the wider Capcom lore. And, lastly, Ken Masters; resplendent here in his “she’s turned the weans against us” era garb....

In real terms, the Battle Hub is simply a lobby system. Whereas in Street Fighter 4 or Street Fighter 5 matches were found through matchmaking systems that ran through regular menus, SF6 recontextualizes the wrapper around finding matches into a bizarre sort of Second Life-style, semi-MMO experience where you join a server and literally noodle around a 3D space. There’s a bit of cross-over with other modes, too. The character you run around with is created for the single-player World Tour mode, which we’re yet to see much of – though now we at least know that you can create some wonderfully frightening-looking protagonists for it with a surprisingly open-ended character....

As part of its end-of-year financials, Nintendo confirmed that the Switch so far has shipped 55.77 million units since its introduction in 2017. This means the console shipped 3.29 million over the last quarter, which is a nice boost over the third (holiday) quarter. While these results are impressive, Nintendo is being conservative when forecasting sales in the new fiscal year, which ends in March 2021. Part of this has to do with the company’s announced slate of first-party games for the fiscal year, which so far doesn’t include as many heavy-hitters as this year had....

Take-Two has announced that following the December 14 announcement by the Board of Codemasters, where EA’s offer to acquire the company was accepted, it has pulled its offer to acquire Codemasters. Previously, Take-Two was entitled to pull the offer if Codemasters didn’t hold a shareholder meeting on December 21, or twenty-two days after on January 12. Because Codemasters shareholder meetings were not held on or before January 12, Take-Two has not extended this date....

According to a recent report published Upload VR, Poland made online education mandatory on March 25. Just five days later, the first of six two-hour seminars taught via Half-Life: Alyx was made available to students of Szkola 33 on social media. The studio confirmed the news today over Twitter with a short teaser video showing the progression of the Worms franchise over the years on an animated television. The teaser ends with a worm beating the television to pieces. “Grab your Bazooka and jump on your Sheep, the Worms are back in 2020 like you’ve never seen them before,” reads the tweet. “New Worms, new ways to play.” This will be the studio’s first major Worms title since 2016....

The Dark Pictures: Little Hope is the second entry in the anthology developed by Until Dawn studio Supermassive Games. It will be released on October 30.
