Coming up to three years ago, Spencer did promise that the team at Xbox was working with director Naoki Yoshida and co to bring the game to Xbox One. Well, we’ve got a whole new generation of Xbox consoles now, and still now catgirls or Paladins in sight. Now, as reported by Game Watch (translations by VGC), Spencer has reiterated his commitment to bringing the game to the platform. “We certainly announced that (laughs),” said Spencer....

And now, thanks to The Game Awards 2022, we know that the title is coming on June 22, 2022. At The Game Awards 2022, Square Enix and Final Fantasy 16 producer Naoki Yoshida showed a new trailer for the game, titled “Revenge.” As you’d expect, it was packed with action, giant summons, chocobos, and all the FF tropes you’d expect. Truly understanding FF7 Remake’s combat involves getting your head around each of the component parts of a battle, which is more complicated than you’d think. It’s a layered combat system; at the very core is the active time battle mechanic that powered the original game, but layered on top of that is a more action game like system of direct control. There’s also the stagger system, borrowed straight from Final Fantasy 13, and then rocking away behind the scenes is all that important RPG character customization: materia, skills, summons, elemental strengths and weaknesses....

Square Enix announced today the 3.5 million figure for Final Fantasy 7 Remake was reached in three days following its April 10 release. It also said the game has “achieved exceptional digital sales” which are continuing to increase. Now available for PlayStation 4, if you have yet to dive in, there’s a demo available on the PS Store. It provides access to the game’s opening chapter. If you download it before May 11, you will receive a PS4 theme....

Castlevania season four will span 10 episodes and premiere on May 13. According to Deadline, season four may not be the end for the franchise on Netflix. The site has learned the streaming service is looking into a spin-off set in the same universe with new characters. The show first launched in 2017 with four episodes and was enough of a hit that a second season was greenlit and hit the service in 2018....

It’s clear that developer Intelligent Systems and publisher Nintendo have a plan to do so. The plan, primarily, is to treat Fire Emblem’s past like blockbuster legend, mashing the old and new together with reckless abandon. The results are curious, and are likely to be divisive among older fans, but are sure to delight those who fell in love with Three Houses. Over the holidays I’ve been able to play a huge chunk of Fire Emblem Engage towards a review, which you’ll be able to read in a few weeks....

As we said they all look to be connected to the new Ghost and Shadow spy war theme of this latest season. Interestingly, one of the locations features a helicopter. One of the hottest rumours pre-release was that helicopters were coming to Fortnite, so this could be another hint....

We’re entering the final week of Fortnite: Chapter 2 Season 2 and as promised, there are more challenges to complete to earn some shadowy rewards. You’ll get the Shadow Stalker glider for completing all of the Storm The Agency challenges, as well as XP boosts and a new wrap and pickaxe. As always, the area surrounding The Agency is likely to get very busy, so try to land there first or grab a few weapons before you head out....

As with every new chapter, Fortnite’s map has received an overhaul, adding in some new locales, as well as bringing in others players will find familiar. The third chapter wrapped up with players coming together to rebuild the island across various pieces of the island broken apart, changing in real-time as more and more pieces were brought together. You can see that happening in the cinematic trailer below to get an idea of what it was like if you missed out on the event itself....

The residents of the Fortnite map have adopted a socially distanced method of distributing their Halloween Candy this year by placing it in pumpkins and buckets outside of their homes. As part of the Fortnitemares challenges, you’ll need to eat 25 Candy to earn a spooky reward. You don’t need to do this in a single match, but most pumpkins and buckets shell out two to four pieces of Candy at a time, so depending on where you are, you might complete the challenge quite quickly....

The trailer for the most part, while nicely made, didn’t show anything we didn’t already know was coming. The sweeping shots are of Inazuma, an archipelago we’ve just finished exploring with the new 2.3 update. Arataki Itto and Garou were also both previously confirmed, and shown off with their own trailers during the Genshin Impact 2.3 livestream a few days ahead of its launch. Yunjin is slightly different. Showing up briefly at the end of the trailer overlooking Liyue harbour, this character isn’t in the game quite yet....

For this quest, you’ll need to find and view five murals scattered around the Golden Apple Archipelago. When you spy one of these murals — which resemble cave paintings — take a photo to add it to your quest log. The quest will be activated the first time you photograph one of the murals, so you’ll quite possibly stumble across it while undertaking other quests. Had it not leaked ahead of time, the news that George R. R. Martin is working with FromSoftware on its next project would have been one of the all-time best surprises in games. But since Elden Ring was officially revealed, and we learned what role he played in its development, we haven’t really heard anything from the author about his work on the game. Martin recently spoke to local news station WTTW during a trip to receive an honorary doctorate from his old school, Northwestern’s Medill School of Journalism....

The announcement was initially made during the Ubisoft Forward pre-show, before being shared by the official Ghost Recon Twitter page. Check out the tweet below. “AI Teammates are here, Ghosts,” reads the tweet. “Fury, Fixit, and Vasily have got your back. Customize their look, loadout, and behavior when the free update drops July 15.” During the pre-show presentation, it was confirmed that your AI teammates are there to watch your back - if you go down, they’ll do their best to coordinate a revive attempt....

Sony Santa Monica published a new statement on its website announcing that God of War is getting a free patch that “replaces the current video graphics mode option” with a new default setting that will “offer the best of both performance and resolution to our PlayStation 5 players”. “On the PlayStation 4 Pro version of God of War (2018), you have a choice between two graphics modes: one that favors performance and one that favors resolution,” says the statement....

The official PlayStation Store page for Godfall has confirmed that the game requires an internet connection to play, and you must be signed in at all times. The “Online Play Required” label can be seen on the site. It’s the same badge you’ll see on games like Destiny and Fortnite that require you to have a persistent internet connection in order to access the game’s features. The official Godfall Twitter account later confirmed that the game does require an internet connection in order to play....

Update 1: Epic accidentally tweeted the news from its account before rapidly deleting it. Too late, the internet moves too quick for marketing plans. You only have until May 21 to take advantage of the offer though, so get involved. A countdown on the Epic Games Store stops at 4pm BST / 8am PT / 11am EST, so expect GTA 5 to be free at that point. Further information was not made available, but Rockstar did say it looked forward to “sharing more as soon as we are ready.” In other words, it will probably be a while before we hear anything else. If reports from 2020 are accurate though, expect the game to be smaller in scale compared to previous Rockstar titles. It will also reportedly take players back to Vice City and will feature a more modern-day take on the Miami-inspired area....
