LittleBigPlanet mascot Sackboy will star in the new platformer Sackboy: A Big Adventure for PS5. Developed by Sumo Digital, the gameplay shown saw Sackboy platforming around various obstacles, and it looks super cute. Going by the video shown, it is also a co-op affair allowing you to play with three others for a fun four-player adventure. A release date for the game was not provided. Sony announced a load of new games for the PS5 today, and you can see them all here....

If you need a nice, big, long game to occupy your time while schools and companies shut down, Ubisoft’s Spring Sale will sort you out quick. The sale, which runs until Match 24, has some deep discounts on titles like Assassin’s Creed Odyssey for $19.80 and Far Cry New Dawn for $16.00. There are also some cheap Uno games, if that’s your thing. Granted, you’ll need to download Uplay to play these titles, but what’s another launcher in the face of such sales?...

According to the latest figures, the pirate game now boasts over 25 million players. The figure is up from 20 million reported back in March of this year, which means the game gained an additional 5 million players in the span of seven months. According to the companies, the introduction of Seasons and the crossover with Disney’s Pirates of the Caribbean in Sea of Thieves: A Pirate’s Life can be attributed to the huge influx of players....

With the Tekken 7 Season pass 4 you can also expect battle balance updates with new character moves. It also includes online play enhancements for a better “online experience” (thanks, Siliconera). Characters for the pass were not announced, but there appears to be a teaser for one at the end of the video. Tekken 7 is out now on Steam, PS4, and Xbox One

Early on in God of War Ragnarok you’re presented with a difficult choice: should you choose the Dauntless or Stone Wall shield? At the start of God of War Ragnarok, Kratos already has a shield - the one gifted to him by his beloved late wife, Laufey. But when it’s damaged in a particularly gruelling battle, Brok offers to make him a replacement. Putting sentimentality aside, Kratos agrees to accept a stand-in; at least until his heirloom can be repaired....

One of the main selling points of Sifu was that it’s a tough game, but for some it might just be a bit too hard, and for others it might not be hard enough. Now, in a free update, Sloclap is adding two new difficulty options to the game that either chills things out or ups the ante depending on what it is you’re after. The update launches tomorrow (May 3), and adds in the Student and Master difficulty settings, which have been detailed in a new video....

Yesterday, Sony provided various reveals, updates, and previews for seven indie titles coming to PS4 and PS5. First off, Sony dropped a reminder that the rather great rogue-lite Hades is coming to PlayStation on August 13. If you still have yet to play the award-winning title from Supergiant Games, in this dungeon crawler, you will defy the god of the dead as you battle out of the Underworld of Greek myth....

If you’ve been following Cyberpunk 2077 you’ll already know that developer CD Projekt Red likes to post new screenshots every once in a while on the game’s official site. These are often stylised, and not always representative of in-game visuals. Nonetheless, they always look stunning, and we’ve been keeping up with updates whenever they’re posted. The screenshots are almost always in 4K, and often have a film grain filter. Reddit user Compxs36 decided to experiment a little to see how much better they could look....

I’m really glad I never made it to any of the pre-release screenings of Sonic the Hedgehog 2, because although it would’ve been nice to see it early, it did award me the more organic experience I had today. The PlayStation maker said in a blog post that it is giving away 2016’s Ratchet & Clank for free at the start of next month. Insomniac’s platformer will be available to download for nothing from March 1 at 8pm PST / March 2 at 4am GMT / 5am CET until March 31, 2021 at 8pm PDT/April 1 at 4am BST/5am CEST. Furthermore, starting on March 25, new customers to anime streaming services Funimation or Wakanim can get an extra 90 days free access on top of the existing 14-day trial period....

The patent originally appeared on Japan’s Platform for Patent Information website, having been officially filed on July 2. Released last summer on PC, PS4, and Xbox One, the Cold Symmetry-developed Mortal Shell is a Souls-like with four classes, called Shells. In the game, you will travel across various lands with the story unloading through lore and dialogue. Bosses are rather tough, so prepare to die a few times when trying to best one. Today’s announcement arrives alongside the release of Mortal Shell: Enhanced Edition, the fully remastered version available digitally today on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S....

We’re frankly spoilt for choice when it comes to upcoming indies to pick from. There’s roguelikes, adventures, puzzles, narrative games, and so much distinct art to check out. Originally slated to arrive in 2021 before being delayed to 2022, it will now release sometime in 2023. According to Zynga, the game is being delayed to ensure it meets high expectations. It also said that those playing the soft launch can expect new content updates regularly until the worldwide launch. The next update is coming up within the next few weeks. Set in the timeline between Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens, Star Wars: Hunters was announced during a February 2021 Nintendo Direct....

Moving onto PC, it seems multiple digital retailers have gone live today with a fresh price cut. They’ve all slashed the cost to about a similar level wherever you look, so you can choose whether you want to save a few pennies or simply buy from your favourite store....

You’d think that would mean that pretty much everyone has played it, and already owns it. But the game continues to impress. Even on brand new hardware. Yesterday, Valve announced that Skyrim was the 11th most-played game on its handheld system in January 2023. In the same list, there were more modern games and re-releases that ranked higher than Skyrim (including Elden Ring, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, Stardew Valley, Hades, Red Dead Redemption 2, Persona 5 Royal, Cyberpunk 2077, and Grand Theft Auto 5), but coming in hot at number 11 isn’t too bad for a game that’s well into its second decade at this point....

One of the biggest takeaways from the Steam Deck reveal, outside of all the hardware and platform talk, is the handheld’s UI. It was very easy to tell that this is very much not the archaic Big Picture setup we’ve been using for years. It turns out, that is because Valve built the new interface for Steam Deck, but it won’t just live there. The company has confirmed that, as many suspected, this design will eventually replace Big Picture on the PC client....
