As per a post on the Night School Studio blog, the developer is pleased with the acquisition, and believes it’ll help it further its goal of explorating interactive narrative projects. “Night School wants to stretch our narrative and design aspirations across distinctive, original games with heart,” reads the blog. “Netflix gives film, TV, and now game makers an unprecedented canvas to create and deliver excellent entertainment to millions of people....

Not only does this mean they’re able to experience the new content, they may find some of the rough edges that pushed them away have been fixed (or at least improved) over the past few months. If you’re thinking of jumping back in again, but are rightfully worried that you’ll just run into a server full of max level characters, inflated markets, and dominating faction imbalance, fresh servers have also launched alongside the Brimstone Sands update, allowing you to have a new adventure with other like-minded players....

In a post on Twitter, the developer said no further content updates will be developed for Bleeding Edge. Instead, the team will no focus its attention on Senua’s Saga, Project Mara, and The Insight Project. The game is still playable on Xbox and PC. Bleeding Edge released on March 24, 2020, and supported cross-play between Steam, Xbox One, and Windows 10. It was formally announced at E3 2019 just a few days after it was leaked....

The Indie World showcase kicks off at 5pm UK time on November 9, and promises “roughly 25 minutes of information on upcoming indie games headed to Nintendo Switch!” Of course as always, there were no specifics as to what kind of games we can expect from the presentation, and no, there definitely won’t be any Smash Bros. reveals, obviously. The most recent Indie World was back in May, the big reveal being Another Crab’s Treasure from developer Aggro Crab, with some other standouts like Ooblets and Cult of the Lamb also being shown off, and some other fun looking titles like We Are OFK, and noir-punk adventure game Gunbrella from Doinksoft and Devolver Digital If you’re someone who’s hoping to see Hollow Knight: Silksong, it’s always possible, but bear in mind it’s quite a big name now, even if it is an indie, as it did feature in Xbox and Bethesda’s Games Showcase back in June, so there’s every possibility it could appear in a full sized Direct....

Jim Ryan, president and CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment, has confirmed in an interview with Japanese magazine Famitsu that the publisher’s acquisition of Nixxes Software was geared towards getting more of the company’s games released on PC. In the interview, Ryan said Sony plans “to further developer out game development capabilities and develop more exclusive titles.” “We are also happy with our efforts to provide our IP to PCs, although it is still in its infancy, and we look forward to working with Nixxes to help with that,” Ryan told Famitsu....

Built by specialist artist Ushio Tokura and his team, 45 million individual blocks were used to complete it and it took three designers 650 hours within two weeks to build the virtual area of roughly 830,000 square feet. The world starts at Pall Mall with the guards and horses before moving onto Buckingham Palace and ending with the street party. There’s bunting, champagne, cake, sandwiches, a pudding competition, and a game of the pin the tail on the corgi....

The game has sold badly (as explained below) and the developer and publisher are keen to show all of us why it deserves a second chance. You can read my thoughts on that below. Gaming has a long history of critical successes that are also commercial flops: there’s Beyond Good & Evil, Brutal Legend, and Sleeping Dogs. Then there’s Dishonored, Dishonored 2, Prey, Deathloop… well, anything made by Arkane, sadly....

Judy Alvarez, who appeared during this week’s Night City Wire livestream, is the leader of the Mox in Cyberpunk 2077. If you’ve already seen her, you’ll know that she has some pretty cool ink - including a tasteful Radiohead tattoo that I, personally, have considered getting on at least 10 separate occasions. It’s not the easiest tattoo to find, but folks over on Reddit caught it pretty quickly after Night City Wire aired....

The Moon Studios-developed title Ori and the Will of the Wisps releases on Switch today. In it, as Ori, you are tasked with bringing the family back together, healing a broken land, and discovering Ori’s true destiny. Ori and the Will of the Wisps expands on the original game, Ori and the Blind Forest, with a bigger world with more NPCs, quests, and Gareth Coker’s score. The game was first announced at E3 back in 2017 and was released back in March for PC and Xbox One....

You’ll make lots of friends and allies in Persona 5, and more than a few enemies - but with many of the women in the cast Joker can take things a bit further if you so choose. There’s ten romanceable characters in Persona 5 Royal - up one on the original release. Each is a confidant, and each can be given gifts and hung out with to enhance your relationship....

Speaking in an interview with Game Star, Xbox boss Phil Specner said not not to expect Xbox Game Pass to arrive on consoles other than a Microsoft brand. According to Spencer, it’s because competitive platforms aren’t “really interested” in having the “full Xbox experience on their hardware.” “The thing about other gaming console platforms is we’re not able to bring a full Xbox experience on those platforms,” said Spencer (thanks, TweakTown)....

Speaking with The Washington Post, Spencer seems exthusiatic over the possibilities. “I was looking at the IP list, I mean, let’s go!” Spencer said. “King’s Quest, Guitar Hero. … I should know this but I think they got HeXen.” With the company’s pending acquisition of Activision Blizzard, the company will eventually own the rights to many of the company’s famous, and some obscure, franchises. And Spencer seems keen to work with Activision studios on what they may want to create....

Strategy and management games are brilliant, but they’re often not very at home on consoles. That’s a shame, as it makes one of the best and most satisfying genres around difficult for controller players to enjoy - but over the years we’ve been treated to a range of attempts to make this sort of game work on pad. A defining one for me was the 1995 PlayStation version of Theme Park, a port so good it made me fall thoroughly in love with the game - but also a port so compromised that the love it inspired simply made me jump ship to the PC version....

The PS5 Future of Gaming event was chock-full of exciting reveals, but Sony decided to throw in an extra surprise at the end by giving us a first look at the box. It turns out, prospective PS5 buyers will be choosing from two different versions at the console’s launch this holiday; one has the standard Blu-ray disc drive, whereas the other does not. The so called Digital Edition is undoubtedly going to be cheaper, but why was it made in the first place?...

Sony will officially kick off PlayStation 5 pre-orders across various retailers worldwide on September 17. The news comes just one day after Microsoft was forced to reveal Xbox Series S and announce its $300 price, after many official details got leaked overnight. Since the PS5 logo reveal in January, Sony has been surprisingly reticent about sharing specifics, compared to Microsoft. Microsoft, of course, lead the charge last December by showing the box, something Sony wouldn’t do for another for another six months....
