As part of the publisher’s earnings reveal for the first quarter of fiscal year 22, which ended June 30, EA discussed the sales performance of the quarter’s biggest game: Mass Effect: Legendary Edition. Announced today during the Nintendo E3 2012 Direct, Metroid Dread will be released for Switch on October 8. This is the first new entry of the 2D Metroid saga in more than 19 years and takes place after Metroid Fusion. In it, Samus will be exploring a strange new planet alone and will be hunted by the ominous E.M.M.I. robots. By gaining abilities, you can return to areas you’ve already visited to find new places and hidden upgrades in classic Metroid gameplay....

Halo Infinite, which was supposed to be Microsoft’s big first-party launch game for Xbox Series X, ended up getting delayed, leaving Microsoft’s line-up this November devoid of new first-party games. Reports about the state of development that lead to that decision in the first place are plentiful, but Microsoft itself suggested that it had considered splitting campaign and multiplayer in order to make launch. According to Xbox chief Phil Spencer, things may end up going that way still....

The report stated that within 12 months, the device would be released and allow users to stream games available through Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. That appears to no longer be the case, according to a Microsoft spokesperson speaking with Windows Central, as the device, codenamed Keystone, may not see the light of day after all - at least in its current form. “As part of any technical journey, we are constantly evaluating our efforts, reviewing our learnings, and ensuring we are bringing value to our customers,” said the spokesperson....

The year obviously started with a bang when Microsoft announced it planned to acquire Activision Blizzard, but the reasoning behind it, aside from more money in the long term, wasn’t completely clear. The NPD Group has published its report on the physical and digital business of games in the US for April. Consumer spending across hardware, software and accessories totalled $4.6 billion last month, a 2% drop compared to April last year. Hardware Hardware dollar sales saw a big 30% drop compared to April last year, bringing in $296 million. Compared to April 2019, however, they’re looking much better, with an 84% increase....

Capcom has detailed the first major update for Monster Hunter World on PC following the launch of Iceborne. Fatal Frame 2 is a title that I deem to be one of the best horror games of all time, so the second I heard that Narin was to follow a lost young girl in a world of ghosts trying to rescue her sister, I was sold.
