Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2 has sold over a million copies, and it did that faster than any other game in series history. Activision announced the news in a Tweet overnight, revealing the impressive milestone. The figure refers to copies sold through to consumers, which is a change from the usual shipment numbers publishers typically release. Activision did not reveal, however, the exact total number of sales, or the split per platform....

Twitch developers talked about Boost in the Patch Notes developer livestream yesterday, confirming that the feature is rolling out to a select number of users as the team gathers feedback. As it stands, viewers can buy Recommendations, with the example shown offering 3,000 of these “impressions” for $2.97. Although there’s an obvious benefit to this for smaller streamers, who can rely on their communities to get exposure on Twitch, the move has attracted a lot of criticism from streamers and viewers....

That being said, Twitter has collected data on some of the most talked about games on the platform during the first half of 2022. It’s not all that surprising, but it’s interesting to see what titles are taking the platform by storm this year. There were approximately 1.5 billion tweets about gaming to round up, with the report from Twitter detailing the most tweeted about games, gaming personalities, esports teams, and more....

With the cancellation of E3 2020, Ubisoft has said it is looking into a digital experience for fans. Like Microsoft before it, the company had plans to host its annual E3 presentation this year, but with the cancellation, it will instead explore other options. Massive Entertainment, the developer of the upcoming Star Wars game, as well as Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, recently put out a tweet looking for playtesters. “We are looking for playtesters for the Star Wars Project!” reads the tweet. “If you live near Malmö, we would love for you to sign up.” You can sign up to playtest the game through this link if you like, but in a separate tweet Massive Entertainment did clarify that it would be prioritising “people who live close to Malmö....

Ubisoft reported its third-quarter earnings today, noting that Rainbow Six Siege has over 55 million registered users now, and saw a record high of Monthly Active Users during December. The game also saw accelerated growth in the third fiscal quarter. Uplay also saw an increase in sales during the quarter, with Ubisoft noting revenue was up by 73% during the first nine months of the fiscal year 2019-20. Uplay+ engagement was also up and the company sees it as an opportunity to continue bringing in new customers, and it plans on continuing to grow the service....

The company has already promised to discuss Assassin’s Creed Mirage during the showcase, and it’s possible it will touch upon Assassin’s Creed Infinity as well. Ubisoft promised previously that additional information regarding “the future” of the Assassin’s Creed franchise would be shared during Ubisoft Forward, and rumor has it the company will announce three more projects for the series. According to Tom Henderson, the Assassin’s Creed games we will hear about have settings in Japan, 16th-century Europe during the witch hunts, and China....

Valheim updates continue, and the latest patch, version 0.147.3, introduced a big change to how dedicated servers work in the co-op survival game. Valheim has shifted from using Steam Datagram Relay (SDR) for its dedicated servers, to a direct connection (directIP) method. Developer Iron Gate said this will make it possible for most players to have lower latency when playing on dedicated servers. Private dedicated servers continue to exist, and you can only connect to them by entering the server IP....

Valorant developer Riot Games has confirmed that it’s working on a way to allow players to politely end a losing match. A surrender option will arrive with patch 1.02. Though the patch doesn’t yet have a solid release date, it’s meant to be dropping this week. 1.02 is also adding the first iteration of Competitive Play for Valorant, a feature fans have been asking for since the beta. When Riot revealed the option to surrender on the official blog, the developer didn’t say what’s going to happen to players’ MMR points when they choose to surrender....

While the Proms are undoubtedly a niche event in just one country, this is also a pretty significant step for the acceptance of video game scores and the composers behind them as mainstream art worthy to sit alongside ‘true’ classical compositions. Music from film and television have had a role in the proms for many years, but gaming has always struggled to achieve the same recognition. The video game concert, titled ‘From 8-Bit to Infinity’, will take place on Monday August 1st at 7....

If time travel were real, it wouldn’t be like it is on telly, where contemporary heroes arrive in a quainter era with an inbuilt advantage over the locals because of their nicer politics and foreknowledge. No; in reality, it would be scary, confusing, and intimidating – like when you’re in a new city and try to get on a bus, and you realise that you have absolutely no idea what the local bus etiquette is....

While not affecting 100% of players, this issue appears to be large enough to warrant mass frustration from a portion of the playerbase, some taking their experiences to the game’s Reddit and Discords. It is worth making sure the issue isn’t caused on your end. You can do this by checking the game is fully updated and verifying the integrity of your game files. However, this does seem to be coming largely from the new map itself - not player’s setups....

Watch Dogs: Legion captures the gargantuan scope of London, with its sprawling Boroughs, the well-connected transport system - which is your Fast Travel method throughout - and how intimidating it can feel stepping off a train into an area you’ve only ever seen on TV. Much like real life, though, you become familiarised with the different Boroughs and what they hold quite quickly. The puddles and crappy roads all start to look the same, you accidentally look at a person for too long and get called a cockwomble and before you know it, you’re a Londoner....

Watch Dogs: Legion, essentially the first next-gen game of the year, releases this week on PC and current-gen consoles. While we all wait for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S to arrive, lets actually see how it fared with critics. Legion is the third Watch Dogs game, and though it uses certain elements and concepts from the series, it is not a direct sequel to either of the two games. Legion takes place in near-future London, under siege by an army of mercenaries who operate under the guise of keeping the peace following a terrorist attack....

The release date was revealed as part of the new Watch Dogs Legion trailer, which debuted during tonight’s Ubisoft Forward event. Check out the trailer below for a look into dystopian London, where the government collaborates with private security units, while other lads leg it around in weird pig masks. As mentioned in previous trailers, Watch Dogs Legion allows you to recruit literally anybody to join your rebel hacker group....

Marvel’s Avengers developer Crystal Dynamics is hosting the first episode of War Table, a show designed to sell you on the upcoming action game. Today’s episode will air at 10am PT, 1pm ET, 6pm UK. Co-op is a big focus of today’s show, so hopefully the stream will demystify how that’s going to work in the final game. Avengers has a major co-op component across both its side missions and endgame content....
