Returnal is Housemarque’s rogue-like, but unlike many modern takes on the genre, the game does not allow you to save mid-run. Dying will send you back to the start, but so will any other reason that could cause to stop playing before a run is finished. Silent Hill 4: The Room has been released DRM-free through GOG. The classic survival horror title stars Henry Townshend, who finds himself trapped in his apartment without contact with the outside world, suffering from horrible nightmares. At some point, a hole comes open in his wall and takes him through alternate dimensions such as a subway station where he meets a woman who is eventually killed. He ends up back up at his apartment, which acts as a safe room of sorts for a while, and hears on the radio of her murder....

Sonic Origins will feature Sonic the Hedgehog, Sonic the Hedgehog 2, Sonic the Hedgehog 3 & Knuckles, and Sonic CD. Sega didn’t provide any further details, only to state it would share more information soon. The compilation game isn’t any surprise considering it was outed recently by French retail site Sogamely. During the stream, which you can re-watch above, Sega also announced Sonic Colors Ultimate which is a remaster of the original 2011 Wii offering....

This makes it the top-grossing video game-based film ever in the US, where it has so far topped $162.74 million, surpassing the first film’s $148.97 million. It also recorded $168.9 million internationally, and has yet to release in Japan where it will arrive in theaters on August 19. The film opened in 4,234 theaters on April 8 in the US and sequentially from March 31 outside the US. The film was a big hit in its first three days in the US, grossing $72....

The Game & Network Services segment is a key component in Sony’s portfolio, of course, and it’s the one we care about most. According to the note, Sony doesn’t expect any games in active development to be delayed. Because the company doesn’t foresee any production delays, it’s confident that the Game & Network Services won’t suffer in the current fiscal yea as a result of coronavirus. That is despite the company’s decision to throttle PlayStation Network download speeds in both Europe and the US....

Square Enix is recruiting for a new action game and successful applicants will be working with Dragon’s Dogma gameplay lead Ryota Suzuki. Suzuki also worked as a designer on Devil May Cry 5 and as a programmer on Monster Hunter: World and Iceborn. According to the recruitment notice, the firm is looking for “creators who have experience and skills specialized in “action scene and battle part design” when developing “a new AAA title....

But, stay with me here, the game isn’t actually that bad in your hands. Really. I had over an hour to preview the title at Square Enix’s offices recently, and whilst the dialogue is a little try-hard, it’s not that bad. It’s one of those things; a trailer cannot accurately convey how a game will play out in your hands – the timing is off, the editing is wrong, there’s no context....

While only one 30-minute trial is available at present, currently Stadia-exclusive Hello Engineer, it’s at least a start. To give the game a try, all you have to do is log into your account and scroll down to the free trial button, reports 9to5Google. After the trial period is over, you have the option to purchase the game, and all progress made in the demo will carry over. Speaking with The Verge, a Stadia representative stated this was an endeavor it’s trying out for a couple of months and trials will be made available for other titles soon....

If you’re on of the few players that hasn’t experienced this chill slice-of-life farming simulation title, you’ll be able to play it at no extra cost via your Xbox Game Pass subscription later this year. Strangers Things VR is being made in collaboration with Netflix from Virtual Virtual Reality developer Tender Claws, and rather than letting you play as one of the kids, this time round you’re playing as season four’s big bad Vecna. Taking on this role, you’ll be invading the memories and dreams of characters from the show, and you can “harness telekinetic powers to battle humans and creatures alike” (via Eurogamer). The game is described as a “pyschological horror/ action game,” so presumably not one for the faint of heart....
