The Divine Force is the next entry in Square Enix’s space-faring RPG series, which is typically developed in collaboration with storied Japanese developer tri-Ace. Fans were initially expecting an update in ‘Spring 2022’, but Square Enix has officially announced the delay of the info update on the official Japanese twitter account of the Star Ocean series, as translated by RPG Site. The tweet apologizes for the delay, and thanks fans for their patience....

Square Enix has pitched this new version of flawed 2010 cult classic Nier as not quite a remake, but also more than a remaster. The argument is that the game defies definition, thus the deliberately-obtuse, largely random title: NieR Replicant ver.1.22474487139… Having seen basically everything the game has to offer, however, I feel pretty confident in properly defining it. It’s a remaster - but a big one. With that said, it’s undoubtedly one of the better remasters of a game from that era that I’ve seen....

The Nier Replicant trailer showcased the protagonist slashing through swaths of enemy Shades across different battlefields. During the show, the company also announced the White Snow Edition of the game, a collector’s fantasy pack featuring a “Lunar Tear” Collector’s Box, Steelbook Case, Pin Badge Set, Script Set, and Soundtrack CD Set available now for pre-order exclusively from the Square Enix Store for $159.99. In a release on its investor page, Nintendo said that the deal is expected to be finished by March 1 of this year. The Vancouver, Canada-based outfit has worked on a number of Nintendo IP, including Super Mario Strikers, Metroid Prime: Federation Force and Punch Out! for the Wii. The company hasn’t just worked for Nintendo, however, having collaborated with the likes of Activision on Transformers: Cybertron Adventures, Ubisoft for 2010’s Ghost Recon and even partnering with Sega for Captin America: Super Soldier for the Xbox 360 and PS3....

Earlier this week, Sony announced the PS5 is getting more expensive pretty much everywhere in the world bar the US, going up by £30 in the UK. In response to that, Microsoft confirmed it wouldn’t raise the price of the Xbox Series X or S. Now, in a statement to Eurogamer, Nintendo confirmed that it too has “no plans” to increase the cost of the Switch. The statement reaffirmed comments made by Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa in June at the 82nd annual general meeting of shareholders, saying “"‘While we cannot comment on pricing strategies, we currently do not have any plans to change the price of our hardware due to inflation or increased procurement costs in each country....

The Entertainment Software Rating Board (that’s the ESRB for short) has rated No More Heroes and No More Heroes 2: Desperate Struggle for PC. Goichi Suda – better known as Suda51 – helmed the development of the action games that launched back on the Wii in 2007 and 2010, respectively. The games launched again on Nintendo Switch in October 2020, and now it looks like they’re heading to PC, too....

Kicking things off today on Xbox Game Pass is Undertale for Cloud, console, and PC. Today is also the day the game arrives on Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S, so it’s a day-one get for Game Pass users. Later this week on March 18 subscribers can download and play Empire of Sin (Cloud, Console, and PC), Nier: Automata (PC), Star Wars: Squadrons (Console) EA Play, and Torchlight 3 (PC)....

QuakeCon has come and gone, but not without diving into some details on the upcoming vampire-ridden first-person shooter Redfall. As part of the convention’s digital event, developers from Arkane Austin including studio director Harvey Smith spoke on what the game is, and what players can expect. During the conversation between the developers, the size of the map was brought up. “Speaking to the size, I think the Talos in Prey was five football fields, and the size of Redfall is kind of ‘hold my beer’” art director Karen Segars said in the video....

Outriders is indeed coming to Xbox Game Pass. The co-op shooter will be available on the subscription service on the day of its release, April 1, for Game Pass console and mobile, but not PC. In case you missed it, Microsoft has been teasing a big addition to Game Pass soon. The cryptic teaser was understood by fans to be referring to the world of Outriders, but many felt the game to be too high-profile to arrive on Game Pass on day one....

Outriders players on PC can expect an extensive suite of advanced display options, along with support for 13 languages, UI customization options, full cross-play across all platforms, ultra-widescreen support, Dynamic Resolution Scaling to ensure performance stays solid, and full Nvidia DLSS support. You can also expect a consistent frame rate regardless of PC capabilities, with hardware requirements geared towards 60fps on PC. Overwatch players can now participate in the annual event through June 9. As usual, the event will bring new skins, intros, emotes, and sprays which can be earned through special Anniversary loot boxes. The event will also include seasonal brawls. You can also win Epic skins when participating in and winning nine games. A different skin will be available each week. These include Carbon Fiber Sigma, Masked McCree, and Fleur de Lis Widowmaker....

As spotted by Scrubwiki - and reported by VGC - this patent lays out a method of making and displaying tags that help other users in-game. “Such tags introduce an additional dimension of community participation to both single and multiplayer games,” the patent reads. “Through such tags, players are empowered to communicate through filtered text messages and images as well as audio clips that other game players, including top-rated players, have generated and placed at particular coordinates and/or in context of particular events within the game space....

At this stage, Persona 5 is already six years old. It is, by any definition, old news. Even the Royal update is three. Elements of the game also haven’t aged well - especially a few story elements and tonal choices that felt pretty archaic and out-of-date back when the game originally released, leave alone six years hence. But the thing is, it’s still brilliant. Persona 5 is still one of the best and most important Japanese RPGs of the last decade....

The new card game based on Persona 5 Royal very specifically is being designed by Emerson Matsuuchi, and is being published by Pandasauras Games, announced on the publisher’s site. According to Matsuuchi, “Players will take on the roles of their favorite Phantom Thieves and fight to change the world in this cooperative card-based strategy game,” though other than that no other details were provided on what the game will actually be like....

Developed by Swedish indie game studio Wishfully Studios, Planet of Lana is the debut game from the company. It stars a young girl and her friend who are on a rescue mission through a world of cold machines and unfamiliar creatures. The planet used to be a place of balance between humans, nature, and animals, but it has now become something else entirely. Disharmony, which has been in the making for hundreds of years, has finally arrived in the form of a faceless army....

In a blog post on the Overwatch website, Blizzard revealed new players will need to complete around 100 matches in order to unlock characters from the original game. According to Blizzard, it is part of what it’s calling the First Time User Experience (FTUE), which is an introduction to Overwatch 2 specifically designed for brand-new players. The studio said it wants to welcome players “more gradually” to Overwatch 2, so they do not feel overwhelmed due to the number of game modes and heroes....

PlayStation Now users can download six titles in November, including Rage 2, Injustice 2, and F1 2020. Starting November 3, the aforementioned games will be made available alongside My Time at Portia. In the game, you are both an adventurer and a farmer as well as an engineer. The sim is set in a post-apocalyptic land where you are tasked with restoring a family workshop to its former glory. You will do this by completing commissions, growing crops, and raising animals....

Obviously, you already know what they are thanks to an earlier leak, but it’s nice when things are made official. One of the titles is Godfall: Challenger Edition, which is different from the original release. This one is aimed at beginners, as it allows new players to experience the game’s trio of endgame modes, minus the story content of the base game and Fire & Darkness expansions. With this edition, you can instantly boost yourself to max level (50), and doing so will also provide you with plenty of skill points and deadly weapons....

Whenever a Nintendo Direct is announced, or when a special event such as Pokemon’s 25th anniversary rolls around, it’s always fun and expected for us fans to hope for things, to dream of what might be on the horizon. However, a troubling theme is emerging: people start to take these hopes and expectations to heart - and then respond with rage when they don’t come to pass.
