Plourde announced earlier this week (April 13) that he would be leaving Ubisoft after working at the studio for almost two decades, and has set up an independent creative consultancy. The Final Fantasy 14 expanded free trial goes live today, allowing you to play the game all the way through the Heavensward expansion. The level cap for trial players has also been increased from 35 to 60. This means you can play all content included in A Realm Reborn and Heavensward through patch 3.56 and there isn’t a limit on playtime. Furthermore, all existing and future A Realm Reborn players will now have access to the complete Heavensward expansion and all the features it includes....

It looks like Final Fantasy 7 Remake is set for PlayStation Plus in March, but this cannot be upgraded to the PS5 edition. A new documentary from Noclip called The Untold History of Arkane has been released and in it the Dishonored developer discusses its projects over the years, including the canceled Half-Life spin-off, Ravenholm. Back in 2016, Warren Spector and his team at Junction Point were working on a new Half-Life 2 episode. The studio never finished the game, but the prototype was handed over to Arkane Studios when the development studio was hired by Valve to create what was called Ravenholm....

Market analyst Superdata has published its year-end report with a look at the highest-grossing segments and most profitable games in 2019. Free-to-play games dominated spending, accounting for 80% of all digital revenue in 2019. Fortnite was the highest-grossing free-to-play game last year (and the year before), earning $1.8 billion in revenue across all platforms. On the paid/premium games end, FIFA 19 came out on top, with $786 million. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare wasn’t far behind, at number two with $645 million....

The latest Free Play Days on Xbox One is live, and this time the game is Gears 5. From now until April 12, the game and its latest update, Operation 3: Gridiron, will be available for XBL Gold users.
