The July 2021 community day takes place on Saturday July 3rd 2021, between the hours of 11am and 5pm local time. This time around it’s all about generation 5 fire-type starter Pokemon Tepig - and you’ll be able to catch plenty of them and evolve up to Pignite and its ultimate form Emboar. As well as the increased spawn rate for Tepig, you’ll be able to enjoy a number of other bonuses to other rewards like Stardust, increased performance of certain types of item, a unique research story, photobombs when taking snapshots of Pokemon, and even be able to access an exclusive move on your caught Tepig....

Pokemon Legends: Arceus will be released for Switch on January 28, The Pokemon Company announced on Twitter. Developed by Gamefreak, the game is set in an older version of the Sinnoh region. You will be trying to complete the first-ever Pokedex. You will be able to pick between Rowlet, Cyndaquil, or Oshawott as your starter Pokemon. You will also be working with a “mysterious professor” who has been traveling around the world....

Pokemon Rumble Rush, the free-to-start Android and iOS title, will go offline on July 22. In an effort to go out with a bang, the team behind the title has announced events leading up to the game’s closure, according to Serebii. There are two Battle Royale events being held. One is the Shaymin Cup which runs April 22-May 6. The other is the Zygarde Cup which runs May 13-27. The Battle Royale events will also feature special participation requirements (thanks, Nintendo Everything)....

Pokemon Types have been a Pokemon staple since its nineties debut, though the number of types has grown significantly over the years. A Pokemon’s type, which is based on its design and natural habitat, is vital. It somewhat determines the moves that Pokemon can use, but also more crucially the different attacks and moves that each individual Pokemon can find itself vulnerable to be on the receiving end of. Pokemon can be single-type or dual-type, with the strengths and weaknesses of both their types - but thankfully there’s no such thing as triple type Pokemon....

The world of Pokemon has been applied to many genres of video game, but I think it’s pretty fair to say that only a handful of them have been runaway successes. There’s the original turn-based RPGs, of course. There’s the photography simulation of Snap, and the augmented reality adventures of Pokemon Go. Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake is coming to PC, PS4, and Xbox One on January 21, 2021. The game was revealed today during Ubisoft Forward, after leaks already outed the game. This is the first remake coming from Ubisoft. Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time’s main gimmick allows the player to rewind time while playing, undoing death by traps or platforming, as well as freezing enemies and moving objects....

As part of a post-earnings call with investors, discussing Sony’s financial results for the first quarter of FY2021, the company shared an interesting detail about its PS5 manufacturing process. CFO, Hiroki Totoki, was asked about semiconductor shortages affecting PS5 manufacturing, as well as most other industries that rely on chips. Totoki revealed that Sony has secured enough chips to meet its sales target for PS5 for the rest of the fiscal year (via Twinfinite)....

A while back, self-described modder turned software developer Darío released a mod that added full ray-tracing to Super Mario 64. For those unfamiliar with the technique, to put it simply it can add very realistic looking lighting to games. Of course, it’s a modern technique that’s becoming more common with the latest generation of consoles, but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t look good on older games too. Now, that same modder Darío has shown off an N64 emulator plugin that can seemingly add ray tracing to any game on the console....

On May 13, a free upgrade for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S will be released for Remnant: From the Ashes players. You will be able to choose between 4K resolution at 30 frames per second on PS5 and Xbox Series X. On Xbox Series S it will run in 1080p at 60 frames per second. You can also choose this option for PS5 and Xbox Series X. Also on May 13, Xbox PC Game Pass members will be available to play the excellent Souls-like game through the service....

Resident Evil Resistance is the four vs one mode included with Resident Evil 3. The two new Masterminds in the game are Alex Wesker and Ozwell Spencer, each with their own special abilities. This duo rounds out Umbrella’s team of Masterminds, alongside the previously announced newcomer Daniel Fabron and Annette Birkin. Alex’s playstyle puts “an emphasis” on using traps, while also manipulating the map to slow Survivors down with roadblocks and enhanced zombies....

Sony Interactive Entertainment has announced today that it has acquired Finnish studio Housemarque - mostly known for Resogun, and PS5 exclusive Returnal - for an undisclosed sum. Housemarque is now PlayStation Studios’ 13th fully-owned studio, joining the ranks of Naughty Dog, Sucker Punch, and more recently Insomniac Games. The studio’s current management team will continue to lead it, aided by PlayStation Studios’ External Development team. In an interview with Famitsu [Japanese], PlayStation Studios boss Hermen Hulst, and Housemarque co-founder and managing director Ilari Kuittinen revealed that the studio is going to expand over the coming months....

Psyonix has announced that it’s ending support for Mac and Linux - including SteamOS - with Rocket League. The game’s next patch, due out in March, will be its last as far as the two platforms are concerned. After the patch’s release, players on Mac and Linux will no longer be able to access online features, including online play, leaderboards and the in-game market. The game will remain playable offline, however, provided future Mac/Linux OS updates don’t break it in some way....
