First reported by DSOG, modder Andrey0007 has been chipping away at this fan remaster of STALKER: Shadow of Chernobyl, and has revealed some screenshots of their work. Andrey0007’s overhaul mod for the game is said to replace all the textures with 4K versions. While some of this will be done using AI upscaling techniques, the modder will also be creating some entirely new textures in some instances. This isn’t all, either, as Andrey0007 has even bigger plans for this overhaul mod. While we’ve caught a glimpse of how the modder is set to transform what is already an immersive environment, Andrey0007 also has plans to replace sounds, dialogue, NPCs, and even shaders with ones of a higher quality. It has to be said, however, that these screenshots may look good, but there are already a dozen pre-existing mods for this title that arguably do the same job. No discredit to Andrey0007’s work, as this is a valiant attempt that, accompanied by the promised additional moderations to gameplay systems and lighting, could be amazing. Yet, it’s hard to ignore just how grainy these shots are. What do you think? Sadly, there’s no telling as to when the full overhaul mod will be completed and ready for people to play. However, if you find yourself unable to wait for STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl or this fan-made remaster, Shadow of Chernobyl is still available to buy on Steam right now (and there’s plenty of mods available online to enhance your experience for the time being).
