CKY drummer Jess Margera may have spilled the beans about an unannounced Activision project in a new interview. Appearing on the Behind Closed Doors podcast back in April, the drummer (and brother of series mainstay, Bam Margera) noted that the band is working on a new title with the publisher (cheers, VGC). “Now touring is your main income, and you really have to try and get licensing deals. Try and get in where you can on video games or whatever,” Margera explained in the interview....

But before we talk about this NPC, we need to lay some groundwork. Data Miner rollschuh2282 discovered a new scenario spawn point in GTA online. This spawn point, located in front of the Record A studios. This spawn point, found with a “movie_set” pedestrian model set, was dug up from Xbox Series X/S and PS5 game files. This bit of code sleuthing, paired with the recent Vespucci Job remix featuring numerous references to movies and cinema, has led some to speculate that a future content update focused on the movies is on the way....

At least one Japanese retailer has advised customers that it’s no longer able to restock certain PS4 editions. As spotted by Cheesemeister (via VGC), the Japanese shop in question posted a sign indicating that five PS4 models have been discontinued. They are the 500GB Glacier White, the 1TB Jet Black, 1TB Glacier White, 2TB Jet Black, and the PS4 Pro 1TB Glacier White. Sony has yet to officially announce that any of its PS4 consoles are being discontinued, either here or in Japan....

In the Cyberpunk 2077 commercial, Keanu Reeves talks about how you can become anyone or anything in Night City - if your body can pay the price. And the only difference between a person who is not a criminal and a criminal is getting caught. The 30-second spot airing now in the US shows various clips of the game, and of course, some nice commentary from Reeves, who plays Johnny Silverhand....

Kena: Bridge of Spirits, which you may remember as the lush action-adventure game that looks like a playable Dreamworks movie, was announced back in June 2020 during Sony’s PS5 Showcase. Since then, it’s seen a number of delays: first, it was delayed from its planned 2020 release date into Q1 2021, then it was delayed to August, and now it’s been pushed back once more to September. This latest knock is the shortest of the lot, though: we’re only seeing the game moved back one month this time, now targeting a release date of September 21 (instead of August 24)....

What types of games have suffered a painful decline to the point where the genre barely exists any more? Brawlers, perhaps - Final Fight’s characters now live inside Street Fighter, and attempts to revive Golden Axe have stalled - though one could argue a certain breed of 3D character action game is descended from them, and last year we had a solid revival in Streets of Rage 4. Arcade sports games feel to have fallen out of the mainstream - indie efforts appear from time to time, but I wonder if we’ll ever get a game like NBA Jam, Red Card Football, or NFL Blitz ever again....

The free games PlayStation Plus members get as part of their subscription in January have been revealed. This is the third month-in-a-row to feature games for both PS4 and PS5, and that will continue to be the case for a few more months. In January, PS4 owners get both Shadow of the Tomb Raider, as well as Greedfall. Though the two games will be available for the vast majority of players, Greedfall is being replaced with Assetto Corsa in the Middle East, and Mistover in Japan, and South Korea....

Marvel’s Avengers developer Crystal Dynamics has revealed pretty much all remaining details about the game’s impending release on PC, PS4, Xbox One and Stadia. You may have already gotten a taste of what Avengers has to offer with the recent beta weekends, and the full game obviously offers much more. You’ll have access to six heroes (Iron Man, Hulk, Captain America, Ms. Marvel, Black Widow, and Thor), playable in the campaign and across over 80 War Zones and Drop Zones....

A free update to Iron Man VR has added new modes, weapons, and quality of life features. You can expect two new game modes, New Game+ and Ultimate difficulty. New Game+ will also unlock the Impulse Armor. New Weapons include the Continuous Beam Repulsor, EM Charge Cannon, Micro Swarm, and the Gravity Bomb. The update also adds another set of eight Custom Armor Decos which can be found in the Armor Station in the garage....

Microsoft Flight Simulator has a physical edition on PC. It’s not published by Microsoft directly, mind you, rather by Aerosoft, who revealed that the game comes on ten dual-layer DVDs. Aerosoft announced the news on its official forums, confirming it will distribute that version in Europe. The package also comes with a printed manual in a custom box set. The publisher clarified that discs contain the simulator code, as well as files for the game’s world, including airports and airplanes....

Though it seems kind of ridiculous, xCloud, or as it’s now simply called, Cloud Gaming, is only an option on mobile. Though you may be an Xbox Game Pass member on PC or Xbox One, you won’t actually get to stream games on those devices. So why is that? Well, it turns out it’s just a matter of priorities for Microsoft. Head of Xbox Phil Spencer answered this very question on Twitter today, explaining that the company is planning to making cloud streaming possible on PCs and consoles, just not right now....

So, to say I’m a ‘guilty CoD player’ is putting it mildly. Working this job means that I feel obliged to play the new games in the series every year – how else are we supposed to capitalise on all those lovely clicks? – and the older I get, the keener an eye I have for the incongruencies between what’s been shoved into my eyeballs and what’s actually happening. I won’t go into the nitty-gritty here, but when engaged with critically and as a piece of propaganda, Call of Duty is fascinating....

The Modern Warfare 2 beta just ended its first weekend – available on a single platform – but already, we’re seeing a high level of engagement from players who jumped in since servers went live. What struck me as a little strange wasn’t the volume of posts on Reddit, and social media, it was that the complaints being made about Modern Warfare 2 are the same exact ones we heard during the Modern Warfare 2019 beta and launch – often by the same people....

Apparently, there have been rumors swirling around that Activision was working on remastering Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3. This is not the case though, according to the company, which told Charlie Intel a remaster of the game “does not exist” and that “any reports [stating] otherwise are incorrect.” It seems rumors of a remaster of the 10-year old game have been floating around since a Call of Duty leaker claimed it was the case....

Corny jokes aside, the issue is popping up for several players, and while Capcom is still investigating the matter, they do have a few recommendations for how to avoid it. You might think battling giant monsters would be the toughest task on your adventure, but that’s nothing compares to gently guiding a fragile Wyvern Egg back to camp.
