On Thursday, United States President Donald Trump issued two executive orders aimed at banning Chinese-made apps TikTok, and WeChat. The executive action prohibits American businesses and people from conducting transactions with TikTok owner ByteDance, and WeChat parent company Tencent. The orders take effect in 45 days, after which the US Secretary of Commerce will clearly state the transactions that fall within the orders’ purview. The orders, which the Chinese government and the two companies in question opposed, are meant to stop what the administration believes are security risks that have to do with how the two apps collect and use user data and personal information....

During the Xbox Showcase pre-show, Echo Generation was announced for the consoles. According to Antonio, the team putting the finishing touches on the game and polishing things up. Not much more in the way of details were provided during the show, as the developer doesn’t want to give anything away. Confirmation comes via tweet after artwork for the game leaked earlier today. Today’s leak follows previous information on the game which slipped out ahead of time, such as the game’s setting, character, and timeframe. Ubisoft said to expect more information on the game during its Ubisoft Forward presentation on September 10. The showcase will kick off at 12pm PT, 3pm ET, 8pm UK and will be streamed on YouTube, Twitch, and Ubisoft’s website....

Talent from the top of the chain is leaking out of the company at an alarming rate, with five of the top 25 people who worked on Far Cry 6 leaving, as well as 12 of the top 50 from Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. People from lower on the ladder are leaving as well, with LinkedIn showing that Ubisoft Toronto and Ubisoft Montreal each down 60 total people. It’s becoming such a problem that entire projects have stalled or been delayed due to being short staff....
