Remedy Entertainment published its financial results for the full year ending December 31. The Control developer saw a 57% year-on-year gain in revenue, mostly the result of Control’s sales. The studio has now completed the first phase of its expansion, which will allow it to work on several projects simultaneously. With Control shipped, Remedy is now working on four other projects. One team is working on the game’s two upcoming expansions, due for release this year....

It’s the beginning of February, and Big Video Games are thin on the ground. In the absence of a zeitgeist-ruling new triple-A release, I’ve been catching up on some of last year’s gems in between my frustrated, confused bouts with the hot 2016 release, Escape from Tarkov. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare dominated much of my free time over the holiday break, but after completing the Battle Pass and reaching max level, there was nothing really left for me to grind....

According to VGC, when testing the Xbox One and PS4 versions of Cyberpunk 2077 - which are compatible on Xbox Series X/S and PS5 respectively, the site spotted a choice between playing on a higher resolution or smoother performance on Xbox Series X. “The PS4 version of Cyberpunk [2077] appears to default to 60fps on PlayStation 5,” said VGC’s Andy Robinson. “But there’s seemingly no option to sacrifice frame rate for a higher resolution like on Xbox’s next-gen console....

Resident Evil RE: Verse, the multiplayer shooter announced alongside Resident Evil Village, was positioned as a free pack-in, available to all owners of the game. Given its similarities to Resident Evil Resistance, the other free multiplayer experiment that shipped with Resident Evil 3, we all assumed RE: Verse will be available at Village’s launch. Not the case, apparently, as fans were surprised to learn this week. As spotted by Resetera, Capcom sent Resident Evil Ambassadors a marketing email about the game, explaining that the game is going to be available in the summer....

The NPD May 2021 report has been released, and it finds total industry spending up 3% when compared to a year ago, reaching $4.5 billion. Year-to-date spending totaled $24 billion, a 17% increase year-over-year. Hardware dollar sales were $244 million, which is up 5% compared to May 2020. Year-to-date hardware spending totaled $1.9 billion, a 36% increase year-over-year. Nintendo Switch was once again the best-selling hardware platform in both units and dollars during the month of May, as well as year-to-date....

This season is bringing the Honda Civic Type R as the first real life car present in a seasonal battle pass, a new arena, a returning event and of course a new pass for players to progress through. According to the Urban Dictionary, a Civic driver is “A usually white and slightly poor male who wears flat-brimmed hats or beanies, has tattoos and an ego larger then the federal deficit”....

The folks at Resetera picked up a link to a SteamDB listing that seems to suggest Sackboy: A Big Adventure will be joining the likes of Days Gone and Horizon Zero Dawn on PC. The thread also makes mention of the codename that Sackboy: A Big Adventure used in development (“Marmalade”), which was also listed in the big GeForce leak that took place back in September. Do this seperate strands of evidence point to yet another Sony game coming to PC in the not-too-distant future?...

Fans have been pining for a new Splinter Cell game for years, and will be delighted to hear that Luca Ward - who voices protagonist Sam Fisher in the Italian version of the games - has hinted that the series could see a new installment very soon. However, it’s important to note that this isn’t the first time Ward has teased a new Splinter Cell game, so it’s worth taking the news with a pinch of salt....

The Sunken Pearl sees you heading to the ocean floor in search of the Black Pearl and Captain Jack Sparrow’s trusty compass. An optional but rewarding objective during this Tall Tale is finding the five Sunken Pearl journals that are hidden around the quest areas. Finding all the journals will give you a bit of extra backstory, as well as unlocking the Pieces of Silver commendation. It’s worth knowing from the get-go that all of the journals are in Siren’s Spire or the Siren Citadel, so don’t worry about looking around the Black Pearl itself....

Another Inazuma character joining the cast, they are an anemo character working for the Tenryou Commission as a detective. We’ve not heard anything about them in game as of right now, making them an entirely original addition to the cast. On its own this is exciting news - everyone loves to see a new character!
