The free PS5 and Xbox Series X optimisation upgrade for Destiny 2 arrived yesterday, though it was a bit of a faff to get on the PS5. Essentially, you had to delete Destiny 2 from your PS5 then select to install the PS4 version via the three dots before the PS5 option appeared. The download is just over 60 GB, though, so shouldn’t take long provided you have a stable internet connection....

That’s according to Activision Blizzard which stated as much during its Q3 2021 call to investors last night. Speaking on the call, Activision president and COO Daniel Alegre said Blizzard was now planning a “later launch” for both games than “originally envisaged.” That said, Blizzard has “a substantial amount of content” slated for next year, likely from World of Warcraft, Overwatch and its other titles. Adding a bit of color, CEO Bobby Kotick stated that staff departures, voluntary and otherwise, partially contributed to the delays and cited “turnover” and “increased competition in the market” for the company’s talent as partly offsetting its success in hiring....

Action RPGs and Diablo-likes are not exactly in short supply these days, but I find myself habitually going back to Diablo 3, particularly when I’m done playing a new one of those. I don’t care that Path of Exile has deeper progression, Wolcen has better graphics, or whatever other quality (or qualities) any new ARPG could claim over Diablo 3. Nothing I’ve played feels as good as Diablo 3. From the moment Diablo Immortal was revealed, I’ve been naively thinking of it as an expansion to Diablo 3 – just one that happens to be on mobile....

As spotted by PCGamesN, players are reporting that they are being left with massive in-game debts after purchasing Eternal Orbs, one of the primary currencies in Diablo Immortal, through third-party websites. These orbs are being supposedly revoked by Blizzard, likely due to the fact that orbs cost real-world money. A number of different posts on Diablo Immortal’s subreddit are making the claim, saying that they own massive amounts of orbs in the game to make up for what they haven’t paid for in game....

Red Dead Redemption 2 is full of tiny details that many won’t ever notice. Rockstar spent years adding little flourishes that elevate its characters and scenes, and one such detail was only just discovered. Reddit user Bornstellar67 recently realised that when you reload a revolver in the game, Arthur silently counts the bullets as he chambers them. His mouth movement isn’t very descriptive on its own, but in context, you can clearly see it is what he’s doing....

As promised, Dying Light 2 developer Techland technically delivered a development update on Wednesday. The update came in the form of a video where members of the development team read mean tweets calling out its long development period. Unfortunately, if you came to this thing expecting some real news, you’d be very disappointed, because that’s really it. Techland said it’ll be ready to talk about the game “very soon”, and flashed a 2021 splash target in the video, seemingly suggesting the game would actually be released this year....

Techland has announced that the open world survival horror game will be playable on Nintendo’s versatile little handheld/home console thanks to the power of the cloud. Techland’s upcoming title joins the likes of Guardians of the Galaxy, Hitman 3, Control and Resident Evil 7 – all of which have been playable on the console thanks to the streaming power of the cloud. If you’re unsure whether or not your internet connection will be robust enough to stream the game, there’s a handy note on the Nintendo store that says you will be able to “download a free launcher application to test the game for a limited amount of time” once the game is released in February 2022....

It also focuses on technical and gameplay improvements, such as ragdoll mechanics, story progression glitches, eliminates deathloops, and also features fixes for numerous co-op issues. This patch includes fixes for story progression, UI/UX, Nightrunner tools, combat improvements, night balance, the final boss fight, outro, and makes balance and technical improvements. It also adds a brutality pack, which brings immersive details to melee combat. The patch also fixes blocks in multiple quests, works to eliminate crashes or black screens in certain situations, level 4 of the chase is now more difficult, the Howler’s senses have seen a range increase, Survivor Sense now works correctly and can be triggered without any cooldowns, an issue where the opponent does not react correctly to other players and does not change behavior that might lead to several glitches during co-op play has been fixed, and Banshees and Chargers are now more easily spotted in the Infected hordes during the night....

Last month, EA announced that it would be collaborating with Omega Force, the Koei Tecmo studio behind the Warriors series, through its EA Originals program to make a game it called “the next great hunting game,” obviously implying it’ll be something like Monster Hunter. That game now has a name - Wild Hearts - and this Wednesday, September 28, 3pm BST, we’ll get a first look at it in its reveal trailer....

But there’s little chance the game is going to skip the PC. What this leak may have cast in doubt, however, is which storefront the new Call of Duty is going to be available for purchase on. Modern Warfare 2 launches October 28, but pre-orders have yet to open up on any platform. In other words, official store pages do not yet exist. Currently at number one on the GSD UK digital and physical data charts, the FromSoftware title’s first week sales were more than Assassin’s Creed Valhalla and Cyberpunk 2077 (thanks, GI.biz). Digital downloads made up over 68% of sales with PC and Xbox the top platforms. Around 85% of sales on Xbox were downloaded, and on PC it was 73%. PS5 and PS4 made up over 50%. With digital and physcial sales, PlayStation 5 made up 32% of sales, PC saw 30% of sales, Xbox was 29%, and PS4 sales were 9%....

Apparently, there is an issue where save data is not being saved correctly to the Steam Cloud under certain conditions. According to the company, if this happens, you will see an error message at game launch, stating that your local save files conflict with the ones stored in the Steam Cloud. Should this happen to you, be sure to carefully check the last update date and time of each save....

One such feature that seems to have gone through a few iterations during development is riders and mounting. Across the game’s world, you’ll come across enemies riding horses as well as other creatures. The player can himself do that with Torrent, of course, and the system that governs all of those interactions is the same.
