Earlier this week, an investors call was made where CD Projekt’s senior vice president of business development Michał Nowakowski touched on the state of the next-gen version of The Witcher 3 (via PC Gamer). “I’ve been looking at the headlines that popped up here and there over the internet, and I’ve seen one that really drew my attention, which is, ‘Witcher 3 next-gen delayed indefinitely,’ which sounds like the game is in some sort of development hell,” Nowakowski said....

Speaking to investors in a Q1 FY22 financials briefing, Adam Kicinski, CEO of the CD Projekt Group, said the company was “eager” to return to the franchise. “We are very eager to revisit the universe which has shaped our history to such an extent,” said Kicinski. “We have recently concluded the research phase for the first game in the new Witcher saga, which means that from now on further development expenditures will be capitalized on our balance sheet....

A retailer in Japan’s Tokyo has enacted strict measures to make sure that PlayStation 5 consoles are not snapped up by scalpers. As reported by Famitsu - and spotted by VGC - Yodobashi Camera in the city’s Akihabara district is refusing to sell PS5 consoles to resellers. The store is only allowing sales of PlayStation 5 machines to those using its credit card plan, in addition to randomising when consoles go on sale....

It appears Warner Bros. Games was going to host its first-ever E3 conference this year, but since the event has been cancelled, it may - like Microsoft - look at a digital option. This information comes from sources familiar with the company’s plans speaking to Kotaku. Apparently, Warner was set to discuss the next game from Rocksteady, a new Batman game, and its upcoming Harry Potter game, which leaked back in 2018 and said to be titled Harry Potter: Magic Awakened....

As promised, Sony is hosting a special State of Play presentation today dedicated entirely to The Last of Us: Part 2. Similar to Ghost of Tsushima’s episode from two weeks ago, today’s State of Play will go deep on gameplay and story. The show kicks off at 1pm PT, 4pm ET, 9pm BST and will go on for a little over 20 minutes. Outside of the individual elements that are the focus, you can also expect an eight-minute gameplay demo at the end of the stream, which will show an area we’ve not seen before....

Hitman 3 developer IO Interactive has announced the return of its monthly live streams. The next episode will focus on Hitman 3, and it’s airing later today at 7am PT, 10am ET, 3pm UK. Although the developer did confirm there will be Hitman 3 news, it didn’t specify whether that also means new gameplay footage. When Hitman 3 was revealed as part of the PS5 event, IO only brought a tiny bit of gameplay....

Of course, we are almost sure at this point about where it’s literally going: either High Rock or Hammerfell, maybe even both. But what about everything else? More importantly, what about the unavoidable rework of its moment-to-moment gameplay and RPG systems? And beyond those elements, how big can it reasonably be?
