Earlier this week, an old GTA Vice City domain popped up on Reddit. Gtavicecityonline.com, which is owned by publisher Take-Two, was updated in March. Despite the domain having been registered all the way back in 2009 - over a year after the release of GTA 4 - some suggested it was related to Rockstar’s reportedly in-development next GTA. The crackpot theory goes that Rockstar is looking to pull a Capcom and title the next game GTA VIce City, with the VI here representing 6....

The 2012 adventure game starred a silent protagonist adventuring through a desert surrounding, accompanied at points by an unnamed, mute second player who could jump in and play from anywhere around the planet. Journey is famed for its use of simple social interaction between players who don’t even know one another, and has since become a landmark indie game. Almost a decade later, developer thatgamecompany is focused on Sky: Children of the Light, a game that very much follows in Journey’s footsteps....

In the wake of the game’s record-breaking launch, I caught up with Arcade Berg, creative director at developer Neon Giant, to learn about his thoughts on the game’s critical reception, the initial lack of parity between the PC Game Pass version and Steam’s, and much more....

The Division 2 is coming to Google Stadia on March 17, ending a drought of blockbuster game releases on the streaming service. The game will be available alongside the Warlords of New York expansion. The even better news is that the Stadia version will support cross-play with the PC version at launch. This announcement was sort of spoiled ahead of time when players discovered a toggle for Stadia cross-play in the game’s options menu on PC....

The headliner for January is The Evil Within 2. If you have never played it, in the Tango Gameworks title, you star as a detective who must rely on his wits to survive the “nightmarish world” of STEM to save his daughter Lily. In the game, a person’s mind is being used as a “Core,” and this person builds and controls the world you have entered. This Core so happens to be Lily, who is controlling the town of Union, which is deteriorating as she loses her mind....

Geoff Keighley’s The Game Awards attracted more viewers than ever this year. The event – which took place on Thursday, December 10 – reached a record 83 million people, an increase of 84% on the 45.2 million people that tuned in to watch the show in 2019. The Game Awards saw a peak of 8.3 million concurrent viewers, too. This is in part because the event was streamed across 40 different services around the world, gaining a significant international audience in the likes of China, India, Japan, Russia, South East Asia, South Korea and Brazil....

The latest trailer for The King of Fighters 15 shows off King kicking the heck out of her opponents. You also get to see the carnival stage in the trailer (thanks, Gematsu). King debuted in the original Art of Fighting as the only playable female character before becoming part of The King of Fighters franchise. The character is just the latest to join the line-up. As recently as last week, Yashiro Nanakase was confirmed to be part of the roster....

Russian filmmaker Kantemir Balagov will direct the pilot for HBO’s adaptation of Naughty Dog’s The Last of Us, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Back in March 2020, it was announced the Naughty Dog developed title was getting its own HBO series and was being helmed by Chernobyl’s Craig Mazin and executive produced and written by Neil Druckmann. It was initially thought Chernobyl director Johan Renck would direct, but due to a scheduling conflict, Renck has bowed out....

The Bloomberg report states Visual Arts Service Group was working on The Last of Us remake, and that work began around 2018. According to Bloomberg, the project was eventually handed over to Naughty Dog. According, to the report, Michael Mumbauer’s group almost made an Uncharted remake instead, but the idea was canned when Sony realized it would be too expensive to make, especially with added design work. Instead, the team started work on The Last of Us remake....

Breath of the Wild is considered something of a necessity for Switch owners, a huge open-world adventure game in which Link must regain his memory and save a partially-ruined kingdom from being fully ruined. Players of all ages have found something to love here, whether battling ferocious monsters, meeting strange and lovable characters, or exploring a world that’s hostile and beautiful and enchanting in equal measure. According to a report from Deadline, Pascal – who is perhaps best known for his portrayal of Oberyn Martell in HBO’s Game of Thrones or the titular protagonist in Disney’s The Mandalorian – has been signed as Joel, the “hardened survivor” hired to smuggle Ellie out of “an oppressive quarantine zone”. Ramsey, fellow Game of Thrones alumnus known for playing Lyanna Mormont, will play the 14-year-old Ellie “who represents the last hope of humanity”....

While this is of course sad news for those eager to experience more Deltarune as soon as possible, there’s some chaser good news that you can swallow. With the one-year anniversary of Deltarune chapter 2 coming up soon, Toby Fox has teased something special next week. As far as we know, development on Deltarune continues to go smoothly, with Toby Fox posting as much back in May and stating: “I’m getting more and more people to help recently, I have good feelings about it”, something that’s obviously great to see for fans of Fox’s continued output....

Back in 2009, video game publisher THQ pulled a bit of a silly publicity stunt where it delivered a 24 karat gold Nintendo Wii to Queen Elizabeth the second herself. It was absolutely just to advertise the unabashedly shoddy Wii Sports ripoff Big Family Games, which isn’t the first game you’d think to pair a golden Wii with. People Make Games later found out that the Queen never actually got the console, and it’s changed hands a few times since then....
