Ori and the Will of the Wisps developer Moon Studios along with League of Geeks and Roll7 have signed publishing deals with Take-Two’s Private Division label. Moon Studios, founded in 2010 by Thomas Mahler and Gennadiy Korol, is currently working on a new action RPG. Project Triangle Strategy, a working title, is a tactical RPG where battles will take place on terrain with different elevations. A character’s attack range is determined by their location and their equipped weapon, so it will be important to survey the battlefield before acting. The PS5 is able to place a much bigger emphasis on audio thanks to the inclusion of a dedicated hardware chip called the Tempest Engine. Sony recognises that audio processing took a step back on PS4 compared to PS3, and wanted to deliver 3D audio for everyone with PS5. This is where the Tempest Engine comes in. The Tempest Engine is a re-purposed GPU compute unit, inspired by the PS3’s SPUs with an SIMD performance and bandwidth comparable to eight PS4 CPU cores combined....

PUBG Corp. has announced that PUBG owners on current-gen consoles will be able to continue playing the game at the launch of PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. The bad news is that because this is the backwards-compatible version, it won’t really take advantage of the new hardware. More specifically, the developer confirmed that the PS5 version will run the PS4 Pro version, and the Xbox Series X build will be the one currently available on Xbox One X....

Netflix has more or less tackled the world of film and television, but with acquisitions like Night School Studio and Boss Fight Entertainment, and a host of games available through the service now, it’s clear that the entertainment service is looking to broaden its horizons. And those horizons appear to include cloud gaming, as noted in a recent job listing that references such (thanks, NME). “We are looking for a rendering engineer to support our cloud gaming service,” reads the job listing....

As for features, this new version is packed with quality of life tweaks, as well as new security and convenience additions. Most existing features remain, with one exception. The new Steam mobile app’s most important addition is the ability to queue downloads and updates remotely to your PC, provided it’s on and you’re logged into Steam. The feature has been a staple on consoles for years, so it’s about time it made its way to PC....

So, when the Capcom showcase last night soon turned into the Resident Evil showcase, I wasn’t disappointed. There have been ongoing demands for Resident Evil Village DLC, and if you didn’t get a chance to tune in last night, I’ve got some great news for you. It’s finally happening. Resident Evil Village will be in receipt of its first DLC, the Winters’ Expansion, on October 28, 2022. A bundle with both the game and the DLC will be made available, and Resident Evil Village Gold Edition will go on sale the same day as the DLC....

That’s without a day one patch for Resident Evil Village, which means it could clock in at 50GB like the Xbox Series X/S version. This is because the size revealed for the game (via PlayStation Game Size) is not taking into account the patch, or maybe even Re: Verse. Re: Verse is the online-only multiplayer title that will require a PlayStation Plus membership and Xbox Live Gold membership in order to play....

Riot Games has announced today, October 17, that as part of its acquisition the studio will be renamed Riot Sydney, which will use its “considerable expertise to further augment the League of Legends, Valorant, and tech teams at Riot,” according to a press release. “The studio will be a key contributor to Riot’s Development Studios organization under industry veteran and Riot’s Head of Development Studios, Molly Mason-Boule.” The press release notes that under Mason-Boule’s leadership, “Riot is expanding its approach to global development, and over time, Riot is looking forward to growing the game industry in Australia and will also continue to explore similar opportunities to add expert talent from veteran studios....

In what started out as a bit of a snafu, Rockstar has turned into a feel good moment for fans. Yesterday, Rockstar’s games got accidentally pulled from Steam. The sudden removal was spotted by PC Gamer, and it’s not unlike the recent Steam store bug that deleted several game pages, including Vale’s own CS:GO. Nevertheless, Rockstar games such as Max Payne 3, GTA 5, and even recent releases like Red Dead Redemption 2 were completely unavailable for purchase on Steam for a few hours....
